CHEZARE WARREN, Ph.D.
Dr. Chezare A. Warren is Associate Professor of Urban Education and Teacher Education at Michigan State University.
He also holds faculty appointments in Mathematics Education and the Center for Gender in Global Context. He spent almost a decade as a public school educator in Chicago, and is founding math teacher of the Urban Prep Charter Academy for Young Men.
His research interests center on understanding the conditions that most contribute to favorable schooling outcomes for young Black men and boys attending urban schools.
Dr. Warren has published over 30 journal articles, reports, reviews, and book chapters. He has served on the editorial board or editorial team of four academic journals, and is past president of the Critical Race Studies in Education Association.
He is co-editor of White Women’s Work: Examining the Intersectionality of Teaching, Identity, and Race (2017, Information Age Publishing) and author of Urban Preparation: Young Black Men Moving from Chicago’s South Side to Success in Higher Education (2017, Harvard Education Press).
