Christopher Waston
Leading the creative team at BMEA, Christopher Waston serves as the Director of Marketing and Information Technology, bringing over 11 years of invaluable experience as a classroom teacher and instructional coach in K-12 schools within the Detroit area. His years in educational leadership have been dedicated to leading high-performing teams by managing change management, creating collaborative cultures, and maximizing data to drive measurable results. Christopher’s unwavering commitment to math instruction and his deep passion for increasing diversity in the education profession drive his work at BMEA. His exceptional talent is leveraging creative design to bring the Black Male Educators Alliance story to life, effectively showcasing its mission and impact.
Chris earned a Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum with a focus on K-12 Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, both from Michigan State University. He is an active member of prestigious organizations such as Educational Leaders of Color (EdLoc) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Christopher finds joy in family life. He and his wife Sarah take pride in being the proud parents of their “perfect square” – Jaedah, Chris Jr (CJ), Ruby, and Malcolm.
